Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should meet the following criteria for this opportunity:

Fellowship:

• International students may be eligible for ACI Foundation fellowships, but you must enroll in a Canadian or American university during the award cycle.
• During the summer of 2027, some fellowships require the recipient to complete a 10- to 12-week internship.

Who Can Apply for the SAH IDEA Fellowship?

Emerging scholars worldwide who meet the following criteria can apply to the SAH Idea Fellowship:

1. Must have received a master’s degree or Ph.D. awarded on or after June 1, 2021.
2. Not currently enrolled in a program of study.
3. Not applying for further studies during the fellowship duration.

SAH’s primary aim is to support research impacted by foundational structural inequities relevant to scholars’ backgrounds or research areas not yet well supported in architectural history.

Reporting Requirements

The SAH IDEAS Research Fellowship recipients should submit a 500-word report with images. Essays must be written by the fellow and approved by their mentor.

SAH will represent the submitted report and images to cohorts and form a contribution to the SAHARA image archive, SAH Blog, SAH Archipedia, or another SAH publishing platform.

• Buy-in: Anyone, including a university president or vice-chancellor, will get behind the Millennium fellows to follow their vision and take action for their projects; if fellows undertake projects on campus, members of the community will be involved in leading and shaping them.
• Impact: Applicants must successfully run their projects and share their stories to advance the SDGs and UNAI principles with MCN and UNAI.
• Continuity: Fellows with campus directors meet regularly beyond the program and must commit to building a robust campus hub.

The PLF at the Florence School of Transnational Governance (STG) offers a unique residential program for mid-career policy professionals across various fields, including politics, the civil service, media, and non-governmental organizations. Benefits of the EUI Policy Leader Fellowship 

Selected fellows will benefit from the program as follows:

Grant:

• Basic grant: €2,500 per month.
• Successful applicants with additional grants/salaries must disclose them to EUI.
• Fellowship amount adjusted (minimum €1,750 per month) based on additional income.

Family Allowances:

• Household allowance (partner): Up to €300/month if the partner’s income < €2,000.
• Family allowance (dependent child): €200/month per child.
• Allowances are subject to income limits and relevant supporting documents.

Taxation:

• EUI does not tax fellowships.
• Fellows must comply with applicable tax provisions.

Medical Insurance:

• Fellows must have adequate medical insurance coverage.
• Options: Proof of personal insurance or subscription to EUI’s insurance scheme at own expense.

Travel Expenses:

• Reimbursement for incoming/outgoing trips (not for families).
• First-class rail or economy-class airfare.
• Maximum reimbursement: €1,200 (including both trips); taxi expenses not reimbursed.

Removal/Re-instalment Expenses:

• There is no provision for removal or installation expenses.

Residence:

• Fellows must reside in the Florence area throughout the Fellowship.
• Active participation in EUI/STG activities is required.
• Short visits outside Florence and Italy may be possible, but the fellowship cannot be conducted remotely or online.

Eligibility Criteria 

All candidates should meet these eligibility criteria to apply for the EUI Policy Leader Fellowship:

• Applicants should be mid-career professionals with a minimum of 10 years of solid experience.
• Have potential for future excellence in a specific policy area.
• Candidates with a primarily academic profile may not be considered.
• Be self-motivated and driven individuals.
• Capable of independently completing activities outlined in the fellowship work plan.
• Be open-minded and curious individuals.
• Willingness to participate in peer discussions covering diverse topics, even beyond their expertise.

English Proficiency Requirements

The expected level for English is C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).

• English certificate not required initially.
• Successful candidates may be invited for an English interview.
• The application team will request that you provide an English certificate/supporting document upon registration.

• Professional excellence is evaluated through contributions to a specific policy field.
• Assessment based on the CV and supporting evidence.
• Minimum Bachelor’s degree (at the time of application) or equivalent required.

Focus Area:

• Alignment of the candidate’s field of work with STG programs and faculty research areas.
• Consideration for other themes, but preference goes to those covering STG faculty and program policy areas.

Fellowship Work Plan:

• Assessment of professional substance, feasibility, applicability in a transnational policy context, and potential impact.

Motivation:

• Articulation of the impact of the fellowship on professional growth.
• Clear expression of what the applicant can contribute to STG.
• Preference for applicants benefiting from STG and EUI while contributing to programs and activities.

Diversity:

• Striving for thematic and geographic diversity.
• Promoting gender balance among fellows.

Selection Procedure

The EUI Policy Leader Fellowship selection procedure has two steps as follows:

First Step:

• • All complete applications undergo a basic eligibility check.
  • Eligible applications are forwarded to the Selection Committee.
  • Incomplete or late applications are discarded at this stage.

Second Step:

• • The Selection Committee reviews applications based on the following:

        4. Reciprocal contribution to STG.
        5. Synergies and diversity among future fellows.
   • Short and reserve lists presented to the EUI Executive Committee.

   • STG does not provide advice or feedback on individual applications.
   • The decision was communicated within four months of the application deadline by the EUI Academic Service.
