Opportunity Description

Khalifa University Scholarship applications are open for international Master’s and Ph.D. Students for the 2026 spring intake. Khalifa University of Science and Technology provides several scholarships for international students to study at Khalifa University in the UAE. The scholarship covers all study expenses and may offer recipients an attractive monthly stipend.

Scholarship eligibility is part of the admissions process; students don’t need to submit a separate application. There are a limited number of available scholarship opportunities.

In accordance with Khalifa University’s strategic aims, rules, and regulations, all applicants are reviewed and assigned to a specific scholarship Tier based on academic merit and other relevant factors. Meeting the criteria for a specific Tier does not guarantee a scholarship grant.

Scholarship Benefits

Khalifa University Scholarships cover the following costs for Master’s degree students:

Tier I & II (Full-Time or Part-Time)

  • Full tuition coverage.
  • Free textbooks.
  • University accommodation (full-time only).
  • Medical insurance for full-time international students.
  • Flights between home and Abu Dhabi (full-time only, subject to approval).
  • UAE visa fee coverage (full-time only).

Tier III (Full-Time or Part-Time)

  • 50% tuition waiver.

  • Medical insurance for full-time international students.

Tier IV (Full-Time or Part-Time)

Khalifa University Scholarships cover the following costs for PhD students:

Research Path (with work commitment): These scholarships are for full-time PhD students only. The University annually assesses the students for scholarship eligibility.

  • Tier I:
    • Full tuition coverage
    • 20,000 AED basic monthly stipend
    • Additional 20,000 AED allowance (approval required)
    • Textbooks, conference support, and medical insurance
    • Flights, visa fees, and insurance covered for international students
    • Post-graduation work commitment with Khalifa University
  • Tier II:
    • Full tuition coverage
    • 20,000 AED basic monthly stipend
    • Additional 10,000 AED allowance (approval required)
    • The same benefits as Tier I
    • Post-graduation work commitment with Khalifa University
  • Tier III:
    • 75% tuition waiver
    • 20,000 AED monthly stipend
    • The same benefits as Tier I
    • Post-graduation work commitment with Khalifa University
  • Tier IV:
    • 50% tuition waiver
    • Free University accommodation (eligibility required)
    • The same benefits as Tier I
    • Post-graduation work commitment with Khalifa University

Study Path (without Work Commitment)

  • Scholarship Type: Reassessed annually.
  • Tier I:

    • 4,000 AED monthly stipend

  • Tier II:
    • 75% tuition waiver
    • 2,000 AED monthly stipend

  • Tier III:

  • Tier IV:
    • 25% tuition waiver
    • Free accommodation (eligibility required)

Eligibility Criteria for the Khalifa University Scholarship

All applicants should meet the following requirements to apply for the Khalifa University Scholarship:

Eligibilities for Master’s degree:

  • Applicants must have completed their bachelor’s degree
  • Applicants with a good academic record: 3.0 out of 4.0 or equivalent
  • Be proficient in English (TOEFL score; 91 iBT, IELTS score: 6.5 or 1550 EmSAT English score
  • 150 GRE score for all Master of Science programs
  • At least two referee recommendations (provided via online form)
  • Statement of purpose (500-1,000 words)
  • Admission interview

Eligibilities for PhD:

  • Applicants must have completed their Master’s degree
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with at least a CGPA of 3.5 out of 4.0
  • A Master’s degree in a relevant field with at least a CGPA of 3.25 out of 4.0 or equivalent from a reputable accredited institution
  • Be proficient in English: TOEFL score; IBT 91 or higher; IELTS 6.5 or 1550; EmSAT English score
  • 150 GRE is mandatory for all fields
  • At least two referee recommendations (provided via online form)
  • Statement of purpose (500-1,000 words)
  • Research statement (500-1,000 words)
  • Admission interview

Note Exemptions:

  • Those applicants who are native English speakers and studied for their degree in an English-medium institution
  • Those applicants who have graduated from a Medium-English institution can submit an IELTS 6.0 or a minimum score of 79 for TOEFL iBT or at least an EmSAT English score of 1400.

Required Documents

Applicants should submit these required documents for Master’s and Ph.D. degrees while applying for the Khalifa University Scholarship:

  • Degree Certificates: Certified copy of Bachelor’s/Master’s degree (as applicable).
  • Equivalency Certificate: This certificate is issued by the UAE Ministry of Education for graduates from institutions outside the UAE. Start the process early.
  • Official Transcripts: Showing the grading scale.
  • English Proficiency: IELTS, TOEFL, or EmSAT score certificate.
    • TOEFL scores can be sent directly to Khalifa University (Code: 0960).
  • GRE Score Report: Sent directly to Khalifa University (Code: 0822).
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV): Detailed.
  • Statement of Purpose: 500-1,000 words.
  • Passport-style photo: White background.
  • Passport Copy: International applicants in the UAE should include a valid UAE visa copy.
  • Family Book (Khulasat Al Qaid): UAE Nationals only.
  • UAE National ID Card: For UAE residents.
  • Research Statement: 500-1,000 words (PhD applicants only).

Important Notes

  • Incomplete applications are not considered.
  • Documents submitted become the property of Khalifa University and will not be returned.
  • Accepted applicants must submit all official documents before registering for their first semester. Failure to do so may result in class registration being canceled.
