About the fellowship

The International College, University of Science and Technology of China (USTC’s) fellowship for master’s programs applications for the A.Y. 2021 are currently open. This fellowship is both fully and partially funded for international applicants to help them undertake a program at USTC. Thus, eligible candidates can apply for this opportunity and experience education and learning in China.

Benefits

This fellowship consists of three levels such as:

  • Level A that is funded by the Chines Academy of Science (ANSO Scholarship) that includes a tuition fee, vast Medical Insurance, a monthly salary of 7,000 RMB;
  • Level B that is supported by the Ministry of Education (Chinses Government Scholarship), or USTC and includes a tuition waiver, broad Medical Insurance, a monthly stipend of 3,500 RMB and accommodation funding
  • Level C that is sponsored by USTC only includes a tuition waiver. Research and teaching assistance will be available after enrolment.

Eligibilities

Those who fulfill the requirements below are eligible to apply.

  • Foreigners who hold a valid passport, and are in sound physical and mental health condition.
  • Must have a master’s degree (or its equivalent degree in China) by July of 2021.
  • Applicants should satisfy the admission criteria for international students at USTC.
  • Applicants for level A of USTC programs must be under 35 years old and for levels B &C under 40 years of age by September 1st, 2021 respectively.
  • Those who will earn their degree in 2021 should submit a Pre-graduation Certificate ensuring that they will complete their study by July of 2021.

  • Applicants currently pursuing a PhD degree at any Chinese institution or university are not eligible for A level program above.

Steps to consider:

  • Create an account in the system.
  • Fill in the form and upload all the documents properly.
  • Select the fellowship of your choice.
  • Candidates can either apply for one level or all levels simultaneously.
  • USTC will choose which level of the fellowship may be granted according to the broad elevation of the applicants.

Required documents

  • Copy of passport (that is valid at least for one year)
  • A research proposal or study plan (max. 800 words)
  • Copy of diploma or degree transcript both for bachelor and master’s degree (if any) attested by the relevant educational institutions in your country.
  • Curriculum Vitae/resume
  • Foreigner Physical Examination Form.
  • Two recommendation letters from full university professor or associate professor.
  • Those who are currently university students must submit an official document confirming their studentship and the exact date to obtain a degree.
  • Applicants who are employed must present an official document stating their current position at the workplace and permission of release.

Language proficiency

  • Applicants must offer the photocopy of HSK certificate (at least level 4) or other evidence of their Chinese language proficiency for programs taught in Chinese applicants for programs educated in English must present the photocopy of valid IELTS or TOEFL result or other vulnerable of their English proficiency (excluding those whose mother language is English).

Note: Documents in languages other than Chinese must be attached with an attested translation in one of the two above languages.
