Opportunity Description


The International College, University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) offers several fellowships for master’s programs for the academic year 2024. USTC is now accepting applications for this fellowship, therefore, eligible non-Chinese citizens can apply for it and pursue a graduate fellowship program with full funding in China.

This fellowship consists of two levels such as:

  • Level A that is funded by the Ministry of Education (Chinses Government Scholarship), Chinese Academy of Science (ANSO Scholarship), or USTC and includes a:
    • tuition waiver,
    • broad Medical Insurance,
    • a monthly stipend of 3,000 RMB and
    • accommodation funding;
  • Level B is sponsored by USTC and only includes a tuition waiver.


Those who fulfill the requirements below are eligible to apply.

  • Nationals of foreign countries holding a valid passport, and in sound physical and mental health condition.
  • Applicants whose programs’ medium of instruction is Chinese have to pass HSK test Level 4 or above; candidates whose native language is Chinese, or can provide evidence of studying at a high school/university with Chinese as the language of teaching can apply for language exemption test.
  • Those who study programs taught in English need to demonstrate proficiency in English by providing TOEFL or IELTS test scores, excluding native English speakers.
  • Must hold a bachelor’s degree (or its equivalent degree in China) by July of 2024.
  • Applicants for master’s programs must not be over 35 years old by September 1st.
  • Those who are expected to receive their degree in 2024 should submit a Pre-graduation Certificate ensuring that they will complete their studies by July 2024.
  • Applicants are not allowed to receive any other support or program during their scholarship at USTC.

Steps to consider:

  • Create an account in the system.
  • Fill in the form and upload all the documents properly.
  • Select the fellowship of your choice.
  • Candidates can either apply for one level or both levels simultaneously.
  • USTC will choose which level of the fellowship may be granted according to the broad elevation of the applicants.
  • Each applicant can only apply for one scholarship.

  • Copy of passport (valid at least for one year)
  • A research proposal or study plan (max. 800 words)
  • Copy of educational certificate or degree transcript both for bachelor and master (if any) attested by the relevant educational institutions.

  • Foreigner Physical Examination Form.
  • two recommendation letters from a full university professor or associate professor
  • Those who are currently university students must submit a document confirming their studentship and exact date of degree obtainment.
  • Applicants who are employed must present an official document showing their current position and permission of release.

Note: Documents in languages other than Chinese must have a certified translation in one of the two languages.
