Introduction

The International College, University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) offers several fellowships for master’s programs for the academic year 2026. USTC is now accepting applications for this fellowship; therefore, eligible non-Chinese citizens can apply for it and pursue a graduate fellowship program with full funding in China.

Benefits

This fellowship consists of two levels:

  • Level A, which is funded by the Ministry of Education (Chinese Government Scholarship), Chinese Academy of Science (ANSO Scholarship), or USTC and includes a:
    • tuition waiver,
    • broad Medical Insurance,
    • a monthly stipend of 3,000 RMB and
    • accommodation funding;
  • USTC sponsors level B and only includes a tuition waiver.

Eligibilities

Those who fulfill the requirements below are eligible to apply.

  • Nationals of foreign countries holding a valid passport, and in sound physical and mental health condition.
  • Applicants whose programs’ medium of instruction is Chinese have to pass the HSK test Level 4 or above; candidates whose native language is Chinese, or who can provide evidence of studying at a high school/university with Chinese as the language of teaching, can apply for the language exemption test.
  • Those who study programs taught in English need to demonstrate proficiency in English by providing TOEFL or IELTS test scores, excluding native English speakers.
  • Must hold a bachelor’s degree (or its equivalent degree in China) by July of 2026.
  • Applicants for master’s programs must not be over 35 years old by September 1st.
  • Those who are expected to receive their degree in 2026 should submit a Pre-graduation Certificate ensuring that they will complete their studies by July 2026.
  • Applicants are not allowed to receive any other support or program during their scholarship at USTC.

  • Candidates can either apply for one level or both levels simultaneously.
  • USTC will determine which level of the fellowship to grant based on the overall qualifications of the applicants.
