Opportunity Description
The Heinrich Böll Foundation – Thessaloniki Office is excited to launch the inaugural Green Foreign Policy Fellowship from July 2025 to May 2026. Applications are open to applicants worldwide.
This fellowship supports scholars, practitioners, and experts worldwide to deepen dialogue and research around green foreign and security policy. As geopolitical tensions rise and climate threats accelerate, the program provides a timely platform to examine and shape progressive approaches to global policy. Fellows will critically engage with emerging narratives, build international networks, and contribute original work toward a data-based, values-driven foreign policy vision.
Participants will receive a stipend, travel and accommodation support, and opportunities to present their work at relevant events. The first semester emphasizes content creation, while the second focuses on networking and public engagement. Fluency in English is required, and fellows are expected to share progress reports and actively communicate their insights across social media and other platforms.
The Green Foreign Policy Fellowship aims to empower emerging voices in progressive foreign and security policy by providing a learning, research, and global networking platform. Fellows will contribute to building a data-driven, cross-regional dialogue and help shape innovative, values-based alternatives to traditional international relations.
Participants will produce original work—articles, papers, or other formats—primarily during the first semester. The second semester will focus on presenting their findings and engaging in networking. Fellows are expected to submit short monthly progress reports, share insights via social media, and actively collaborate with the Heinrich Böll Foundation. Fluency in English is required, and selected fellows must outline their goals and plans at the program’s start.
