Opportunity Description
Applications for Gates Cambridge Scholarships at the University of Cambridge will open soon in September for the academic year of 2023/24.
About the scholarship
In October 2000, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation donated 210 million USD for the establishment of the Gates Cambridge Scholarship program. The Gates Foundation offers 80 scholarships to support students from all over the world to study at the University of Cambridge their master or Ph.D. degrees. 25 scholarships will be awarded to US students and 55 to students from other countries. Two of third of scholarships will be allocated to PhD applicants.
There are at least 250 scholars and students from different countries studying at Cambridge University. 1700 students have already graduated and joined the alumni network of Gates scholarship.

- Deadline: December 9, 2022 (US residents only)- other countries’ applicants depend on the course: Early December 2022 –or Early January 2023
- Notification of result: March 3, 2023
- Scholarship offer notification: Late March 2023
- Acceptance of Scholarship: 72 hours after receiving the offer notification
For US citizens:
- The application starts on September 15, 2022
- Deadline: October 13, 2022 (US residents only)- other countries’ applicants depend on the course: Early December 2021 –or Early January 2022
- Notification of result: December 9, 2022
- Scholarship offer notification: Late January 2023
- Acceptance of Scholarship: 72 hours after receiving the offer notification
Interview invitation: December for US Residents. Early march for other applicants
Benefits of Scholarships
- Maintenance allowance of £18384 for 12 months – PhD Scholars are funded for up to 4 years.

- Inbound visa costs and immigrant health surcharge
Additional funding:
- academic development funding £500-2000 to attend conferences and course
- Family Allowance of £10,120 for the first child and 14,440 for two or more child

- Personal Statement (Max 3000 Characters- around 500 words): writing your reason for applying to the Gates Cambridge Scholarship and how you meet the minimum criteria of this scholarship.
Application process
Applicants need to apply for admission and scholarship via the Graduate application portal of the University of Cambridge and fill but the admission and funding section.
