Benefits and Financial Aids
Applicants will benefit from the CGS at UCAS as follows:
- Tuition Fees Exemption:
- Master’s students: RMB 30,000 per year
- PhD students: RMB 40,000 per year
- Application Fee Exemption: (RMB 600)
- Monthly Stipend:
- Master’s students: RMB 3,500 (RMB 500 from supervisor or CAS Institute)
- PhD students: RMB 5,000 (RMB 1,500 from supervisor or CAS Institute)
- Accommodation:
- Free accommodation at UCAS Beijing campus, or accommodation subsidy (up to RMB 700/month for Master’s, up to RMB 1,000/month for PhD)
- Medical Insurance: RMB 800 per person
- Sponsorship Period: 36 months for Master’s and PhD students (possible extension for PhD students)
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet these requirements before applying:
- Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport
- Proficiency in English or Mandarin
- For Master’s Applicants, candidates must hold a degree equivalent to a Chinese Bachelor’s degree and be under 35 years old.
- For PhD Applicants, candidates must hold a degree equivalent to a Chinese Master’s degree and be under 40 years old.
- They should not have accepted any other sponsorship at the time of application.
- Full-time study in the enrolled research institute, with no other job allowed
- Applicants must meet UCAS’s specific academic and research criteria
- Applicants currently studying in China are not eligible if they are already pursuing a Master’s or PhD degree

How to Apply?
In order to apply for a Chinese government scholarship at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), follow the Two-step online application process before the strict deadline of January 31, 2026.
Step 1: Log in to the CSC Application System and submit your scholarship application form. Use UCAS’s agency number: 80001.
Step 2: If applicable, fill in and submit the Provisional Acceptance Form or pre-admission letter.
Step 3: After completing the online application, log in to UCAS’s International Students Online Admission System to complete additional submission steps.
Step 4: Submit the same information in the CSC and UCAS Admission systems.
Step 5: Ensure you meet the application deadline.
Step 6: Await the results and follow registration instructions upon acceptance.
Important Scholarship Rules: Once accepted, your scholarship funding officially begins on the registration date listed in your Admission Notice—do not be late without prior approval. To maintain your funding, you must pass annual reviews and attend all required exams. Furthermore, any academic research you publish during this period must list UCAS as your institution and explicitly acknowledge that the work is funded by the Chinese Government Scholarship.
