The Malaysian government provides the Malaysian International Scholarship (MIS), inviting outstanding and talented students from different countries listed below, including Afghanistan and other Asian countries. who want to study their Master’s degree or PhD in Malaysia to apply for this scholarship

Eligibilities:
To be considered for Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS), you must meet the following criteria:
- Be a citizen of one of the recipient countries of MIS 2024*.*Eligible countries:
ASEAN countries, Morocco, Commonwealth countries, Palestine, Afghanistan, Qatar, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, Senegal, China, South Korea, Egypt, Syria, Georgia, Tajikistan, Hong Kong, Tunisia, Iran, Turkey, Iraq, Turkmenistan, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Libya, Yemen. - Intend to pursue full-time postgraduate studies (Master’s/PhD) in Malaysia; or
- Currently, be pursuing full-time postgraduate studies in Malaysian public universities and selected private higher education institutions** with a minimum of two (2) semesters remaining before the end of the study period.
- Applicants must have obtained a 3.5/4.0 CGPA in their previous academic studies
- English proficiency:
- IELTS, 6.5
- TOEFL PBT, 580, IBT 92, CBT 230
- Applicants must be in a good state of health
- Applicant’s age: for Master’s Degree, not be over 40, and for Ph.D. must not be more than 45 years
- Has applied and gotten the admission letter from a Malaysian UNIVERSITY listed below.

Selection criteria:
- The applicants will be selected based on their academic achievements.
- The quality of the applicant’s study plan and its potential contribution toward advancing technology and human well-being will also have a high consideration.
- The applicant’s ability in the English language (speaking, writing and reading).
How to apply:
- Select a university from the list above, apply to your desired program
- Get a confirmation letter from the university, prepare the other required documents mentioned below, and then apply to scholarship.
Required documents:
To complete your application, you must submit the following documents (in PDF format) to the online system:
- Certified copy of passport (valid for at least 6 months)
- Certified academic transcript(s) reflecting all courses taken during previous study programs and accompanied by an official document describing the grading system, if not already included in the transcript.
- English proficiency test result (IELTS/TOEFL) or official letter from your previous institution declaring English as the medium of instruction for the obtained degree(s).
- Two letters of recommendation from referees.
- Admission letter to Malaysian universities (for current postgraduate students or those who have secured admission).
- Curriculum Vitae.
- Research proposal (for Masters by Research and PhD applicants).

- Is MIS available for part-time studies?
No, MIS is only available for full-time Master’s and PhD studies.

- How long is the MIS sponsorship period?
– Master’s degree: up to 24 months
– PhD: up to 36 months
- What benefits do MIS recipients receive?
Recipients receive full tuition coverage and a monthly living allowance of RM1,500.
- How are tuition fees paid?
Tuition fees are paid directly to the university upon invoice submission each semester.
- How is the living allowance paid?
The allowance is paid quarterly into a Malaysian bank account, contingent on satisfactory academic progress.
- Do I need a Malaysian bank account for the living allowance?
Yes, allowances are only paid into Malaysian bank accounts. Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad is preferred.
- Can the living allowance be paid to an overseas bank account?
No, the living allowance must be paid into a Malaysian bank account.
- Can I study online from my home country and receive the living allowance?
Tuition will be covered, but the living allowance is withheld until you return to Malaysia.
- Will I receive the remaining allowance if I finish early?
No, the allowance stops once the study period or sponsorship ends.
- Can I extend the sponsorship if my studies are delayed?
No extensions are granted. Students may apply for study deferment, during which sponsorship is paused and resumed upon return.
- Does MIS cover thesis or paper publication fees?
No, these costs are not covered.
- Is there any post-study work commitment in Malaysia?
No, there is no post-study work bond, but recipients are encouraged to contribute to Malaysia’s development.
- What are the travel arrangements for successful applicants?
Applicants must arrange their own travel and lodging. Research the cost of living in Malaysia before arrival.
