Opportunity Description

The Office of Academic Resources (OAR) at Chulalongkorn University invites scholars, librarians, and information professionals worldwide to apply for the Chula-Global Library Visiting Fellowship. This two-month fellowship, which will be held in Bangkok, Thailand, offers an opportunity to work on a project related to librarianship, information science, or academic publishing while participating in OAR’s activities.

The program fosters international collaboration in library science, archival management, and educational technology while enhancing access to Thailand and ASEAN Information Center collections. It also strengthens connections with scholars in Thai, Southeast Asian, and Asian Studies.

Program Objectives:

  • Promote global knowledge exchange in academic resource management.
  • Foster cross-cultural collaboration and professional development
  • Enhance awareness and use of Thai and Southeast Asian information resources.

Benefits and Financial Aids

The following are the benefits of the fellowship:

  • A stipend of 230,000 THB subjec to a 15% withholding tax
  • Covered expenses include visa fees, airfare, accommodation, and other costs before and during the stay
  • The stipend is payable in two installments—upon arrival and at program completion
  • Fellows will have access to the Thailand and ASEAN Information Center’s collections
  • Opportunities to collaborate with OAR’s staff and participate in academic events

Eligibility Criteria

The candidates must meet the following requirements:

·       Must be a non-Thai citizen

·       At least three years of professional experience

·       Must be employed at a reputable university or institution

·       English proficiency is required

·       Institutional approval to participate

·       Must be able to stay for the full two-month program

·       Must commit to the full duration of the fellowship at Chulalongkorn University.

·       Fellows must present their work to OAR staff and academic audiences.

·       Fellows must publish their research in a high-quality international venue and provide progress updates every six months.

Tracks of the Fellowship

  1. Information Science and Library Professional Track:
    • For librarians, archivists, data scientists, and related professionals
    • Expertise in digital preservation, research data management, machine learning in libraries, etc.
  2. Scholars and Researchers Track:
    • For academics with terminal degrees
    • Must have a strong publication record in Thai Studies, Southeast Asian Studies, or Asian Studies
