Fellowship overview

The Scholarly Communication Lab (ScholCommLab) is accepting applications for a postdoctoral fellowship worldwide to join its interdisciplinary team of researchers for a one-year research stay at the (ScholCommLab) Vancouver, Canada. Therefore, the fellows’ work will be part of Sharing Health Research, a multi-year, SSHRC-sponsored project investigating the online communication of health science.

Given that this position may be mainly related to scholars with a background in science/health communication and some other closely relevant fields, the institution invites applicants from any field with interest in this research topic.

Research topic: “the public communication of scientific uncertainty and/or the online transmission of health-related preprints.”

  • Further funds may be available to deliver findings of the work at agreed-upon conferences.

Qualifications

Next to pertinent research interests and experience, successful fellows will have the following qualifications: 

  • A Ph.D. (or defined defense date)
  • Be able to work well independently and as part of an inclusive team.
  • Ability to grasp, scope, and accomplish a project within the 1-year time limit
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Fluency in English, both written and oral
  • Profound disciplinary understanding and interdisciplinary intuition
