Opportunity Description
Are you a journalist or researcher passionate about advancing journalism in the Global South? The Al Jazeera Media Institute (AJMI) Fellowship offers a two-month unique opportunity for journalists and researchers from all countries to interact in Al Jazeera Media Network’s (AJMN) renowned journalistic environment.
The program consists of two phases, including Phase 1 (Remote), in which the researcher develops and submits a research plan and a paper introduction. In Phase 2 (On-site at Al Jazeera Headquarters), the researcher completes the research and submits the final paper.
The Al Jazeera Fellowship is particularly for full-time journalists and researchers with a media or social sciences background. It allows journalists and scholars to write a 7,000-word research paper on selected journalism topics. Successful applicants will join an AJMN team, gain hands-on experience, and engage with editors, journalists, and staff related to their research.
The program invites journalists and scholars to contribute research in areas such as journalism in the global south, digital journalism, new schools in journalism, journalism ethics, and media institutions and challenges. Through this experience, participants develop professionally and make a significant contribution to the media by addressing critical challenges and exploring solutions.
