If you’re a researcher who finished your Ph.D. and got selected, you can get a three-year fellowship from the Life Science Alliance. You can decide to work at EMBL or Stanford University during this time. Also, you can spend up to one year visiting the researchers you’re working with at the other institution. You might even visit multiple times, but that depends on the visa rules of the country you’re visiting.

Benefits of the EMBL Bridging Excellence Postdoc Fellowship

Successful postdoctoral researchers will receive three-year fellowships, including:

• Standard postdoc stipend, including inclusive of family and social security benefits
• EUR/$ 25,000 contribution towards lab consumables
• EUR/$ 25,000 for travel and accommodation supplement for visits to the partner institution
• EUR/$ 2,000 funds for attending an international conference.

Eligibility Criteria

Applications are open to candidates who meet the following criteria:

Open to All Researchers:

• Bridging Excellence Fellowships are inclusive, welcoming applicants of any nationality, gender, or scientific background.
• Applicants should hold international mobility and be interested in serving as ambassadors for transatlantic science.

Ph.D. Completion:

• Applicants must have completed their Ph.D. within two years before the start of the fellowship.
• Students currently pursuing a Ph.D. are eligible to apply, with the condition that the Ph.D. is awarded before the fellowship begins.

EMBL/Stanford Students and Postdocs

• Students and postdoctoral fellows presently employed at EMBL or Stanford University are eligible to apply.
• However, recipients of an additional 3-year fellowship should ensure that the total postdoctoral fellowship duration does not exceed the maximum limit of 5 years of employment as a postdoctoral fellow.

Selection Process
