Opportunity Description

The National University of Singapore (NUS) offers President’s Graduate Fellowship for new and incoming Ph.D. candidates. Ph.D. candidates with exceptional promise or accomplishment in research may be eligible for this Fellowship program. Each semester the University selects a number of donor-funded Ph.D. candidates for the award. This year, the Lee Kong Chian and Jasmine scholarships fund the President’s Graduate Fellowship at the National University of Singapore.

The Fellowship is tenable for one year for the first time, and after that, the award may be subject to the awardee’s satisfactory progress. The University may renew the fellowship duration each semester at the University’s discretion for the maximum period of the Fellowship is four (4) years.

Please remember that the relevant Faculty or Department should nominate excellent Ph.D. applicants for consideration for the President’s Graduate Fellowship.

Benefits of the President’s Graduate Fellowship

Awardees of the President’s Graduate Fellowship will benefit from the program for four years as follows:

  • Monthly stipends:
Singapore Citizen S$3,600
Singapore Permanent Resident S$3,400
International Student S$3,100
  • Tuition Fees Subsidies for four years
  • One-off air travel cost for the one-way ticket of up to S$750 for economy class. Also, up to 20 kg of baggage per trip only for newly registered international students.
  • From the AY2023-24 intake, President’s Graduate Fellowship recipients are eligible for the NUSGS Research Incentive Award, a supplement to this fellowship program. NUS Graduate School Research Incentive Award comprises the following items:
  1. A monthly allowance for over four years
  2. A one-time research allowance upon passing the Ph.D. Qualifying Examination in the 2nd year of Ph.D. candidature

The faculty or department will advise the candidates on the application procedures when the applicants are deemed eligible. For the President’s Graduate Fellowship with Lee Kong Chian Scholarship, preference goes to candidates who exhibit leadership ability and commitment to community service.
