About the program

The World Academy of Sciences offers fellowships to young scholars from developing countries (except Thailand) who wish to undertake advanced research in biotechnology at the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC) in Thailand.

Fellowship areas

The PD fellowships will be on offer in the following areas:

Molecular biology, molecular genetics, biotechnology, proteomics, metabolomics, molecular Immunology, biochemistry, medical technology, cell culture technology, and bioprocess technology or related disciplines;

Eligibilities

Candidates for these fellowships must satisfy the criteria below:

  • Be citizens of a developing country in the south (excluding Thailand);
  • Candidates must not possess any visa for temporary or permanent citizenship in Thailand or any developed country;
  • Hold a Ph.D. degree in one of the above fields;
  • Meet the requirements of the postdoc positions available at BIOTEC and its associated units.
  • Apply for this fellowship within 3 years of obtaining their Ph.D. degree;
  • Be regularly employed in a developing country (not in the host country) and have a research assignment there;
  • Be at the age of 40, maximum;
  • Provide an acceptance letter from the host institution;
  • Submit evidence of proficiency in English, if the previous medium of teaching was not English;
  • Commit that h/she will return to her/his home country upon completion of the fellowship;
  • Not receive other assignments during the course of her/his fellowship;
  • Take financial responsibility for any accompanying family members.

Note2: Firstly, applicants should apply for a preliminary acceptance letter as early as possible. Applications without the acceptance letters from BIOTEC will not be accepted.

  • Abstract of thesis
  • A statement of interest and three recommendation letters
