Opportunity Description

Admission applications are now open for the MA in Sustainable Development Management at the Rhine-Waal University of Germany for 2025/26. This course is part of the EPOS program, which is financed by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) for students from developing countries. A limited number of fully funded scholarships are available to excellent students from developing countries.

Applicants with bachelor’s degrees in Social Science, Economics, or Industrial Engineering and an interest in Sustainable Development can apply at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences for an MA in Sustainable Development Management. Developing country applicants will pursue their master’s degree in Germany on tuition-free Education or a DAAD Scholarship.

About the Master of Arts – MA in Sustainable Development Management

The Master of Arts program in Sustainable Development Management at the Rhine-Waal University connects and integrates the parts of political science and economics related to sustainable development. The University implements empirical methods and modules of project management to give the students the necessary qualifications. The program’s primary aim is for students to shape both the academic discourse on sustainable development and project practice. The courses are project-based cycles: students learn to successfully plan, implement, critically ask, and evaluate sustainable development projects.

Scholarship Details

The DAAD scholarship provides great funding for the duration of the study program that includes the following:

  • Monthly allowance of 934 Euros for the master’s degree and 1300 Euros for Ph.D. studies
  • Health insurance, accident, and personal liability payments
  • Travel cost
  • Under certain circumstances, scholarship holders may receive the following additional benefits:
    • Monthly rent subsidy
    • Monthly allowance for accompanying members of the family

Requirements for the MA in Sustainable Development Management

International applicants should meet the following eligibility criteria to apply for the MA in Sustainable Development Management at the Rhine-Waal University:

  • Applicants can be from any country, but for the DAAD Scholarship, applicants should be from developing countries.
  • Participants must have an academic background in social science, economics, or industrial engineering with a GPA of 2.5 or higher or an ECTS grade of A or B.
  • Have a high interest in Sustainable Development.
  • Meet English language proficiency (Level B2 or higher) according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference).
  • Two years of employment experience.

  • Proof of English language proficiency from non-native English-speaking countries
  • Secondary school leaving certificate (GCE O- and A-level, Baccalauréat, high school diploma
  • Uncertified copy of passport or identity card
  • One passport photo with 35 mm × 45 mm size and the applicant’s name on the back
  • Other helpful documents, including courses, rank in the class, and awards

  • Candidates demonstrate a development-focused motivation with a commitment to social responsibility and fostering change in their personal and professional spheres post-training/scholarship.
