Master’s Sustainable Energy and Development (SEDev), formerly the Energy and Environmental Management (EEM). Applicants from Developing Countries, including Afghanistan, can apply for this opportunity in 2027-29. International applicants can apply for this Master’s degree at the Europa-Universität Flensburg (EUF).
The Sustainable Energy and Development Master (SEDev), managed by the Department of Energy and Development as part of the Interdisciplinary Institute for Environmental, Social, and Human Studies, embodies interdisciplinarity and innovative thinking. With roots tracing back to the 1980s, this program, offered jointly by the University and the Flensburg University of Applied Sciences, specializes in three areas: “Transition,” “Development,” and “Engineering.” Leveraging the region’s pioneering energy transition initiatives, SEDev benefits from a robust research environment and collaboration with the Centre for Research in Sustainability and Transformation (CREST), ensuring a strong scientific foundation supported by active researchers.

Details of DAAD Scholarships
DAAD offers complete coverage of expenses for international students who are applying for SEDev at Europa-Universität Flensburg (EUF) as follows:
- A monthly stipend of 992 euros for graduate candidates
- Expense coverage toward health, accident, and personal liability insurance
- Travel allowance, unless covered by the home country or another funding source
- The following are additional benefits under certain circumstances:
- Monthly rent subsidy
- The monthly payment for accompanying family members of the applicants
Requirements for the DAAD Scholarships
International applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in engineering (BEng) after a minimum of seven
semesters of studies - Prove two years of professional work experience in related fields
- English proficiency: TOEFL (IBT 80), IELTS 6 or equivalent. In English-speaking countries, applicants do not need to provide an English proficiency certificate. Note: Certificate of medium of instruction as English is not accepted.
- Female applicants are particularly encouraged to apply for this opportunity.

- Two years’ work experience and qualifications, including letterhead, stamp, and signature

- One letter of motivation (signed) with current occupation; if applying for more than one postgraduate course, applicants should submit one motivation letter explaining why they are applying for these specific courses.
