UNICEF is calling for applications for its Communications Intern Position. The UNESCO Office of Innovation is hosting this internship. Benefit of the internship

Duties and responsibilities

The incumbent/intern will be responsible to:

  • Researching, planning, and preparing engaging content — working closely with various Innovation Fund portfolio companies
  • Developing storylines for videos and outreach materials to collect learnings & lessons
  • Selecting suitable means for message / audience and optimizing content across platforms
  • Preparing overview materials and other ancillary documents to communicate complex and technical information concisely yet effectively.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position, applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Be studying for a bachelor’s, master or doctoral degree program in communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Information or Telecommunications Technology or other relevant discipline or have graduated within the last two years.
  • Have outstanding academic record as exemplified by recent university or institution documents.
  • Don’t have any close relatives (e.g. father, mother, brother, sister) working in any UNICEF office; and have no other relatives in the line of authority to which the intern would be reporting to.
  • The age limit for eligibility is 18 years minimum.
  • A demonstrable record of developing quality written content, social media materials and multimedia assets
  • Experience in video or podcast production, and thrilled about the challenge of attracting listeners’ attention and turning complicated ideas into engaging stories
  • Familiarity with evolving technology fields such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and extended reality
  • Realize what role technology plays in the development and humanitarian sectors, as well as the UN system
  • Be knowledgeable in at least one of UNICEF’s working languages: English, French or Spanish. Fluency in the working language of the host office is mandatory.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is desirable.
