The AYF Fellowship is a 9-month live-in program on Awaji Island, Japan, hosted by the Awaji Youth Federation at Manabi no Sato. It offers selected Fellows the chance to develop their skills in a multicultural setting, aligning with Japanese workplace demands and the dynamic ‘learning by doing’ approach.
Following the ethos of ‘Turning your Imagination into Action,’ AYF collaborates with the Pasona Group to address societal challenges with sustainable business solutions. Fellows uniquely contribute a global perspective to the local community on Awaji Island, Japan.
Awaji Youth Federation (AYF) works as an umbrella of the Pasona Group to find sustainable solutions for society’s challenges and crises. AYF Fellows have a golden chance to implement their unique global perspective in a highly localized regional community on Awaji Island in Japan.
AYF has chosen four main themes for Fellowship activities, reflecting its mission:

Benefits of Awaji Youth Federation Fellowship
Awaji Youth Federation Fellowship Program is a paid opportunity with the following benefits:
- Monthly Salary of JPY 197,000, including base salary and overtime
- Individual room in Japanese or Western style
- Utility costs, including electricity and Wi-Fi
- Fellows are responsible for their meals. However, Pasona provides discount meals.
- Five days a week of working & learning
- Ten days of paid leave available six months into the Fellowship
- Opportunity to online study of Japanese language on a discounted fee basis,
- Accommodation and Utilities are included
- Government Taxes, Pension, and Insurance fees will be deducted
Note: Fellows should pay their travel costs to and from Japan.
Requirements for Awaji Youth Federation Fellowship
To apply for this AYF Fellowship, fellows should meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Applicant should be between the age of 24-30.
- Graduated with a bachelor’s or master’s Degree.
- English language proficiency of TOEIC 800 or equivalent for non-native speakers
- Japanese language skills of JLPT N1-N3
- 2-3 years of experience in one of our Fellowship focus areas
- Commitment to solving society’s problems and contributing to AYF projects.
- Value hard work, discipline, and care for others.
- Flexible, resilience, and perseverance
- The ability to translate ideas into concrete action.
- A track record of activity in the AYF Global Community and its membership is preferable.

Can I apply if I am not fluent in Japanese?
Fluency in Japanese is not mandatory but considered an advantage. During the program, you will attend Japanese classes that will help you in your future career path. The fellowship is primarily aimed at developing innovative projects, so even if your Japanese proficiency is not high, we encourage you to apply.

The fellowship focuses on attracting young talent from around the World. The current age range is 24-30, but it might recruit fellows slightly above or below that age limit.
Is Visa provided with this program?
Once you are selected for the program, Pasona Group will support your Visa application. You will need to apply at your local Japanese Embassy.
What is the relationship between Pasona and AYF?
AYF is a child company of Pasona Group located on Awaji Island. Pasona Group is a major HR solutions company operating in Japan and internationally. In 2017, AYF and AYF Fellowship were created by Pasona Group to promote revitalization, internationalization, and new projects on Awaji Island.

The fellowship gives each candidate exactly 14 days to upload a project proposal. Failing to do so will result in the automatic cancellation of your application.
