Opportunity Description
The Government of Ireland’s Higher Education Authority (HEA) is launching the Government of Ireland International Education Scholarships 2026 Program (GOI-IES). The GOI offers 60 scholarships to qualified candidates who have placement offers from eligible Irish higher education institutions and wish to pursue a degree at Master’s, postgraduate diploma, or Ph.D. levels. This is a fantastic possibility for Afghan and international students to apply and have the chance to study in Ireland.

Scholarship
- A €10,000 stipend covers students’ living and educational expenses for one academic year.
- A complete exemption of all fees associated with attending the higher education institution, including tuition.

List of eligible Institutions
The following institutions and programs are eligible for the Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship:
Eligibility
- Highly deserving students from non-EU/EEA countries may apply for the award.
- Candidates must be natives or current residents of a non-EU country.
- The last year of an undergraduate program, the first year of a taught master’s degree program, or the first year of a research program (i.e., the first year of a 3- to 4-year Ph.D. or 2-year research master’s program).
- Hold a conditional/unconditional offer from a program of study
- Not received any scholarship from the Irish government previously
Candidates should exhibit the following:
- Excellence in academic achievement
- Outstanding communication skills.
- Participation in extracurricular activities (such as humanitarian work, local, national, and international politics, arts, and sports).
- Possess a compelling reason to pursue their education in Ireland, demonstrating how GOI-IES fits with their long-term objectives.
Selection Criteria
The HEA will establish an impartial international assessment panel to assess the submitted proposals. The Assessment Panel will consider how far the applications adhere to the 2025 Call requirements.

Visa Applications:
Check the Irish Immigration Service website (www.irishimmigration.ie) for detailed visa information. Apply for a visa as soon as you receive your award letter to avoid delays. Late arrivals may result in scholarship loss, and family visas may not be approved.
Note about Accommodation and Living Costs:
Living costs in Ireland are high, especially in Dublin. The €10,000 stipend helps but may not cover all expenses. Start searching for accommodation early and secure additional funds to support yourself. The stipend is paid in two €5,000 installments per semester. Prepare financially for initial expenses upon arrival.
