The scholarship covers tuition fees and offers financial assistance for necessary study-related expenses. If you were under 18 when your asylum application was submitted, you may be eligible to have your tuition fees covered by SAAS.

Eligibility Criteria

All candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • Must have received a conditional or unconditional offer to study an undergraduate or postgraduate course at the University of Strathclyde for the 2024-2025 academic year.
  • Applicants must have applied for refugee status under the 1951 UN Convention on the Status of Refugees or have been granted leave to remain in the UK based on Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights.
  • Residency within the Glasgow area is required; however, exceptions may be for applicants residing elsewhere in the UK with appropriate accommodation arrangements.
  • Must have been in the UK since August 1, before the course’s start date

The following are not eligible:

  • Eligible for individuals within the UK; Ineligible for those outside the UK.
  • Traveling to the UK solely for scholarship qualification is prohibited.
  • Exclusions: Housing, living expenses, and travel costs are not covered.
  • Ineligible if not receiving Home Office support for living costs.
  • Not intended for research students; Eligible for undergraduate or taught postgraduate degrees
