About the challenge
Submissions are now open for the 11th round of Generation Restoration Youth Challenge 2021. The challenge is a global call for youth-led solutions developed for conserving and restoring ecosystems. The challenge covers the conservation and restoration of all types of intact and degraded terrestrial and coastal ecosystems, including forests, grasslands, peat, etc.,. Therefore, it invites inspiring solutions, by young ecopreneurs, young climate activists, and influencers around the world to apply.

Benefits
The best 10-20 contestants will receive an invitation to a 4-month cohort program conducted by 1t.org to help scale and promote their impact. This program, mainly designed for the leaders of the winning solutions (founders, CEOs, etc.), will include:
- Targeted Support: advice on technical, business, marketing, and operational development questions
- Visibility: public recognition via the Forum’s digital media channels
- Access: opportunity to attend selected World Economic Forum and 1t.org events, projects and communities; join 1t.org’s growing Innovator community and Challenge-related working group
- Relationships: introduction to selected organizations in the Forum’s network (incl. potential investors); special support offered by Forum Partners and 1t.org Partners
Solution areas
Challengers may submit their solution in one of the following focus areas:
1. Successful examples of entrepreneurship
- Startups that place ecosystem protection and restoration at the core of their business model.
2. Youths’ capacity-building
- Programs, initiatives, and organizations that are spearheading interdisciplinary and inclusive capacity & skills-building focused on youth.
3. Advocacy, inspiration, and engagement
- Projects and organizations that inspire, raise awareness, and engage youth in ecosystem preservation.
Evaluation criteria for the solutions
The solutions will be reviewed in view of the following criteria:
- Environmental impact
- Socio-economic impact
- Youth leadership or/and impact
- Inspirational impact
- Operational model and potential for scaling
Eligibilities
- The challenge is open to all inspiring and impactful youth climate activists, ecopreneurs, influencers, youth networks around the world.
- Applicants can submit the solutions that are for and led by youth in one of the above areas and should meet the other operational criteria.
Challenge Timeline
- Submissions period: 16 April 2021 to 15 June 2021
- Review and selection process: 17 June 2021 to August 2021
- Announcement of selected submissions: August 2021
- Cohort program to measure and advance impact: September 2021 to December 2021
