Overview

World Economic Forum (WEF) is calling for nominations of those young global leaders who are capable of and want to make an impact on the world through their leadership. To clarify, the forum of young global leaders at WEF works to create a dynamic global community of outstanding people with the vision, determination, and influence to create positive change in the world. Therefore, if you know a leader under 40 who has the above qualities, nominate them to join the Class of 2022 at WEF.

Selection criteria

  • The nominee must be 38 years old or younger at the time of nomination.
  • Possesses 5-15 years of distinguished attainments, leadership, and exceptional professional work experience.
  • Demonstrates a personal commitment to work for society at local and global levels, has a perfect reputation in the public eye, good standing in their community, self-awareness, and a thirst for learning.
  • Candidates from the business sector must be at the management level of a company or division and must hold one of these titles (or equivalent): President, head of the board, CEO, managing director, managing partner or publisher.
  • Companies, organizations, and agencies can only nominate one candidate from their qualifying company every two years.
  • In case the company is a member or partner of the World Economic Forum, the candidate needs the approval of the chief executive officer or chair of the board of the respective company.
  • And, self-nominations are not considered.

Indicative timeline

Nomination closes on 30 April 2021. Nominees may be invited to submit a brief application and will be informed of the outcome in the weeks following their nomination.

June – July 2021 – The World Economic Forum shortlists candidates for more review.

September – December 2021 – The selection committee and Young Global Leaders Advisory Group assesses top candidates.

March 2022 – A press release is announced for the new class of Young Global Leaders.

Note: Due to the large volume of nominations received, the Forum of Young Global Leaders only notifies successful candidates.
