Opportunity Description
Even though studying in Canada is cheaper and more affordable than in several other countries, it could still be pretty expensive for international students especially in terms of affording tuition fees which costs international students very high and cause them to be on a tight budget.
But, there are many scholarship choices available to international students differ from those of the expensive ones.
For you, scholarships are great ways to reduce the cost of education, but how you can find and get them is a bit complicated. To help you make a sense of existing financial aids, ApplyBoard has classified different categories of scholarships available in Canada!
- Merit scholarships
This type of scholarship is awarded based on a student’s success level and h/her financial condition is not taken into account. Students with a high level of achievements and performance in academics, arts, exceptional community contributions, or athletics are typically granted merit scholarships.
- University/college scholarships
Most Canadian colleges and universities offer their own scholarships to international students with many of them being entrance scholarships for which students do not need to apply so as to be considered eligible for the award. To find about this, always check out your school’s or university website to know what kind of awards they offer.
- Financial scholarships
Also called bursaries, these scholarships are given to students in financial need to take higher education. Mostly, many of these scholarships are available to Canadian students, there are some for international students too. Again, check with your university/college to find out if you are qualified.
- Government-funded scholarships
These kinds of scholarships are designed for international students and funded by the Canadian government. The scholarships are awarded at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. For available scholarships, fellowship, or funding opportunities visit EduCanada.
