Opportunity Description

Enrollment is open for the UNRCCA Preventive Diplomacy Academy 2024 for the youth from Central Asia and Afghanistan. The Academy is an initiative by the United Nations Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA), aimed at training youth aged 18 to 29 in Preventive Diplomacy in Central Asia and Afghanistan.

Aligned with the Youth Strategy 2030 and UN Security Council Resolution 2250 on youth, peace, and security, the program seeks to empower young leaders with knowledge and skills essential for fostering peace and preventing regional conflicts.

Student enrollment is conducted through a competitive process, providing motivated and enterprising young individuals with a unique opportunity to acquire the skills necessary for youth leadership.

Eligibility Criteria

All participants should meet the following criteria:

  • Young citizens aged 18 to 29 from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Afghanistan.
  • Participants should be studying or planning to study political science, international relations, international economic relations, jurisprudence, or sociology.
  • People with disabilities are welcome to apply.
  • Classes are primarily online, requiring a stable Internet connection.

Required Documents

  • Motivation letter (up to 300 words) addressing specific questions:
  1. Why are you interested in the Preventive Diplomacy Academy training?
  2. What motivates you?
  3. How can you contribute to the PDA inter-regional network?
  • Short video (30-60 sec) introducing yourself and explaining your suitability for the PDA.

Selection Process

Participant Evaluation Criteria:

  • Academic/professional profile
  • Knowledge of regional and national issues relevant to preventive diplomacy
  • Proven social service/volunteering experience in the community
  • Creativity
  • Proficiency in Russian or English languages

Note:

  • Only finalists will receive an email.
  • Initial evaluation based on the motivation letter and video submission
  • Successful candidates proceed to an online interview.
