Opportunity Description

The Mirror Awards, established by the Newhouse School in 2006, celebrate outstanding reporting on the media industry. They honor journalists, editors, and writing teams who hold a mirror to their own field for the public’s benefit.

Eligible work includes print, broadcast, and online editorial content—ranging from newspapers and magazines to radio, television, blogs, and websites—published or broadcast between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2025. Entries should focus on the business, people, processes, and regulations behind news and entertainment; reviews, fictional works, and books are not eligible.

This year’s competition features six categories: best single article/story, best profile, best commentary, the John M. Higgins Award for best in-depth reporting, best media newsletter, and a special topic on the future of late-night television. Each category includes a $1,000 honorarium, except the Higgins Award, which carries $5,000. Winners are selected by a panel of journalists and journalism educators.
