Opportunity Description

The University of Chicago Booth Stigler Center’s 2023 Journalists in Residence Program is currently accepting applications. The Stigler Center established the Journalists in Residence Program in 2017, intending to develop the upcoming generation of leaders in business reporting. Journalists from all types of media worldwide who are enrolled in the program benefit from a transformative learning experience. The participants spend about 12 weeks auditing classes at their Hyde Park campus, participating in Stigler Center activities, working with peers, and making connections with university researchers.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Working as a journalist/no matter if you are a freelance journalist
  • Have some working experience in any media
  • Have proficiency in the English language
  • No restriction on nationality or residency

What are the main responsibilities of the participants?

  • Auditing three classes
  • Participation and Actively Completion of the classes and assignments
  • Participation and attending programs offered by Stigler, including lectures, lunches, social activities, etc.
  • Signing an agreement with the center for the program guideline and expectation agreement.

Application Requirements:

  • Two Recommendation letter
  • CV/Resume
  • Copy of Three Published news articles (in English or with an English translation )
  • Essay (500 words ): Describe the interest and the goals you are expected to achieve
  • English language proof (for non-native English speakers) – (TOEFL, IELTS, SAT, ACT, etc. certificate from a national education institution or work experience in an English-speaking office
