Applications are now open for the Hatfield Lioness Scholarship to female students from developing countries in 2024. This scholarship supports girls and women to study for their Master’s degree at Durham University, UK.
Hatfield Lioness Scholarship aims to enable a female student from a developing country with limited access to higher education to benefit from postgraduate study at the University of Durham. Launched as part of celebrating 30 years of women students at Hatfield College, Durham University, in 2018, it is funded by alums, friends of the College, and other sources supporting the scholarship’s aims.

Benefits of the Hatfield Lioness Scholarship
Hatfield Lioness Scholarship for the academic year 2024 will cover the following allowances:
- Full University tuition fee payment
- Stipend for living expenses
- One return economy travel from the applicant’s home country to the UK, and the return cost of travel between the UK airport and Durham City
- Single and self-catered room in mixed accommodation at Hatfield College
- Settling allowance upon arrival
- UK visa costs and the UK Health Surcharge
Eligibilities and Criteria
To apply for the Hatfield Lioness Scholarship, applicants must fulfill the requirements below:
- Have applied for and awarded an unconditional offer on their desired Master’s program by June 2024;
- Applicants must not have received any other scholarship to sponsor their Master’s studies;
- The scholarship is available to female applicants who have academic and personal qualities that enable them to complete the program;
- Also, applicants should act as excellent ambassadors of the university and apply their earned skills for the benefit of their community;
- Hold a relevant honors degree of the corresponding standard to be admitted to a chosen Master’s course;
- Meet all other course entry requirements, including the relevant English language proficiency;
- Not received any funding to study for a Master’s degree;
- Candidates should be national of one of the following countries:

Applicants willing to apply for this scholarship should follow the following three stages properly:
One: First, submit an academic application for the desired Master’s program referencing to apply for the Hatfield Lioness Scholarship;
Two: Submit a scholarship application by completing this application form;
Three: Submit all supporting documents, including Durham University offer letter, academic transcript, IELTS certificate, and references, via email to hatfield.trust@durham.ac.uk by the deadline.
