The East-West Center offers the Changing Faces Women’s Leadership Seminar, an empowering program for women. It is designed to nurture and develop the leadership skills of women entrepreneurs and innovators. With a focus on promoting entrepreneurship and innovation, the seminar provides the participants a platform to engage in professional training, dialogue, and networking opportunities.

Benefits and Financial Aids

Participants of the Changing Faces Women’s Leadership Seminar will benefit from the program as follows:

  • Full scholarship: US$3,250 per participant
  • Covers:
    • Interisland airfare from Oʻahu to Maui
    • Ground transportation and airport transfers
    • Lodging for 12 days on Oʻahu and Maui
    • Program meals and per diem
    • Speaker honorariums and training workshops
    • Individually tailored host mentorship
    • Cultural activities and networking
    • Participant resource materials
  • Participants responsible for:
    • Roundtrip airfare to and from Honolulu
    • Visa expenses, health insurance, baggage fees
  • Encourages additional participant cost-sharing as evidence of commitment and desire for self-growth

Eligibility Criteria

All applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Targets women business owners, social entrepreneurs, and leaders with demonstrated leadership skills and ability to enact change.
  • Eligible candidates include innovative entrepreneurs, business managers, policymakers, and civil society leaders with at least seven years of work experience.
  • Innovators are defined as creators of original ideas or products or those recognized for improving existing ideas or systems.
  • It is open to applicants from various countries, including the United States and Asia Pacific nations, and particularly encourages women from Hawaiʻi to apply.
  • Proficiency in English for professional communication is required.
  • Preference goes to candidates with limited international exchange opportunities and those willing to contribute to program costs.
  • Finalists may undergo a phone interview as part of the selection process.

The United States, Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, China, East Timor, Fiji, Hong Kong, India, Federated States of Micronesia, Indonesia, Japan, Kiribati, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Maldives, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Nepal, New Zealand, Niue, Pakistan, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Sāmoa, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, Tonga, and Vietnam. Women from Hawaiʻi are particularly encouraged to apply!
