Job Description:
Under the direct observation of the child protection officer, the social worker will work to ensure awareness activities on child protection and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and to follow up extremely vulnerable cases. Moreover, the social worker supports individuals and families who live in dire situations and do not have access to improved protection, education and psychosocial comfort. Social workers are expected to conduct awareness activities with communities while taking a child-centered approach.
The SWs workplace will be Kabul with daily field visits to the community, social workers will also be part of meetings/trainings conducted in Kabul.
Duties and responsibilities:
The incumbents’ responsibilities include:
- Encouraging the communities to take part in activities and awareness sessions on child rights, child protection and GBV.
- Conducting awareness session about child rights and child protection with the community member including women, men, boys, and girls
- Through outreach and home visits, identifying and following-up extremely vulnerable cases of children and children with specific needs (directly helping or referral to external service providers)
- Registering the identified children in the case management system for better support.
- On a weekly basis, report his/her activities’ progress to the Line manager.
- Perform any other identical tasks as allocated by the line supervisor.
- Make sure that all child protection activities in accordance with Child Protection Minimum standard CPMS.
- Assemble information and individual record (follow-up forms, individual files, etc.)
- Build a good working relationship with other aid organizations and the officials
- Take part in all internal and external trainings and meetings that are necessary.
- Strictly observe child protection, safeguarding policy (global code of conduct), and safety and security measures during the work.
Job Requirements:
- Hold a university degree in law, sociology, psychology, social studies or any other relevant field.
- At least 3 to 5 years progressively responsible professional working experience at a national level in implementing philanthropic and/or development activities, including evaluation and monitoring processes.
- Independence to carry out evaluations and monitoring assessments
- Community social development experience is an addition.
- Dari/Pashto skills are mandatory.
- Good writing skills in English
- Sound report writing and case management skills.
Other competencies:
- Quickly act if any unethical behavior is seen; ensure the sound practice of team members’ authority or position.
- Ensure that transparency is taken seriously in program development and implementation, and ensures programs are implemented with integrity.
- Specify priorities as per team and project goals, ensure the ratio between staff time allocation and resources is suitable, and support others in organizing and managing their workloads
- Encourage and help the team to perform well.
- Convey a vision and motivate others towards it.
