As the Advisor on Human Rights and Afghanistan, your core duties will include:

• Analysis and Reporting: Monitoring developments in Afghanistan, tracking emerging threats to human rights defenders, civil society, women and girls, and producing weekly media summaries.
• Advocacy Support: Identifying opportunities for public statements, bilateral engagements, and diplomatic advocacy, and drafting relevant interventions.
• Translation and Interpretation: Providing interpretation during high-level meetings and translating working documents and statements to and from Dari and Pashto.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Engaging with victims of human rights violations to collect individual testimony and providing advice and referrals to Afghans at risk.
• Travel: Traveling to attend Human Rights Council sessions or missions, as required.
