Organization Description

The International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) is an international organization with 21 Member States operating in over 90 countries. It promotes safer and better migration policies through a holistic approach that combines policy, research, cooperation, outreach, and capacity development. With a staff of over 500, ICMPD focuses on key migration routes in Africa, Central and South Asia, Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Middle East.

Founded in 1993 and headquartered in Vienna, with a liaison office in Brussels, ICMPD holds UN observer status and collaborates with over 200 partners, including EU institutions, UN agencies, Member States, and other multilateral organizations. It is funded by Member States, bilateral donors, the European Commission, UN partners, and more.
