Introduction

The purpose of this fellowship program is to strengthen capacity-building and human resource development in the fields of sustainable and renewable energy sources in developing countries and countries in the transition period. The training programs of these fellowships are to be delivered in the special institutions in the Russian Federation. The language of the program is English, and UNESCO will accept applications from both developing countries and those in transition.

This fellowship is offered in compliance with objectives and strategies of approved UNESCO program and Budget for the fellowships program section.

Location: Moscow, Russia

Duration: 4 weeks

Fields of Study

One month duration: from 5 October 2020 to 30 October 2020.

The program’s candidates may choose to study in the following areas of study, which comply with UNESCO’s objectives and program priorities.

(a) Energy and sustainable development;
(b) Ecological management of energy resources;
(c) Renewable energy;
(d) Sustainable and renewable energy power generation.

 

Benefits UNESCO fellowship offered by ISEDC

i) Fellows’ tuition fees for the entire duration of the program are covered;
ii) Studies/training under the supervision of a related advisor or study director that will be provided to the fellows by the host institution;
iii) Stipends are paid to beneficiaries by the donor government every month in local currency. The allowance amounting to (USD 450) is intended to cover living expenses like accommodation, meals, petty expenses, and other unexpected costs;

iv) ISEDC in the host country will assist in availing an appropriate housing for the fellows.

Benefits of fellowship offered by UNESCO

  1. UNESCO will pay the cost of the round-trip international travel at the most economical rate and the most direct flight.
  2.  An allowance of US $100 for travel will be paid by UNESCO before to the fellows’ depart for the Russian Federation.
  3. To qualify for health insurance coverage, beneficiaries need to be recognized medically fit by the UNESCO Medical Service that examines the overall medical documents.

Further conditions for this fellowship:

(a) UNESCO will not provide any finance or accommodation for fellows family members.
(b) Fellows will be asked to submit a short progress report co-signed by the academic supervisor to UNESCO at the end of the first month and a final report upon completion of the fellowship. These reports could be written in both English or in French and copies of which will be diverted to ISEDC

Qualifications and requirements:

Eligible candidates must have the following educational requirements:

(a) At least hold a BSc degree or BA in Economics;
(b) Be Proficient in the English language;
(c) Not older than 35 years of old;

Applications Submission Guideline:

(a) All applications should be approved by the National Commission of the host country for UNESCO and must be accurately completed in English or French with the following attachments in their DUPLICATE:

  • The proposed UNESCO fellowship application form;
    • Six photos of the applicants;
    • Certified copies/scans of Diplomas;
    • English Language proficiency certificate;
    • Subsequently, for those who have been chosen, the UNESCO medical test form properly completed by a recognized physician (not more than four months ahead of the actual date of the studies). Note: The prescribed medical form will be sent together with the letter of award by the committee. Expenses arising from the processing of the medical documents will not be repaid.

(b) Files which are incomplete or submitted late (after the deadline), and also do not meet the requirements mentioned above, will not be evaluated.
(c) Each invited Member Country of the UNESCO is requested to nominate not more than two candidates.

Candidates’ selection process

  • The final selection of fellowship recipients belongs to ISEDC.
  • The National Commission of selected fellows will be accordingly informed by UNESCO and the letter of award will immediately be sent to the committee.
  • UNESCO shall authorize the departure of successful candidates who have entirely complied with the requirements reiterated in the letter of award.
  • Those who are not notified of their result by 1st September 2020 should consider themselves unsuccessful.

Visas acquisition guidance

Selected fellows from countries where there the Russian Federation Embassies or Consulates exist have to obtain their visa in their country prior to their trip. Fellows from countries where no embassy/consulate exists must receive their visa from the nearest country where the Embassy or Consulate of the Russian Federation could be found.

UNESCO and ISEDC have no allowance to cover passport and visa expenses.
