Opportunity Description
The University of the Arts London (UAL) offers a broad range of scholarships, bursaries, and awards generously financed by donations from individuals, companies, and philanthropic charitable organizations, as well as from University funds. Currently, it is offering up to four postgraduate scholarships to international applicants meeting eligibility criteria.

Eligibility criteria
Applicants meeting the following requirements can apply to this scholarship:
- Must presently have an offer to study a full-time taught master’s course at one of UAL’s six Colleges beginning in the academic year of 2020/21. Moreover, your course must correspond to either an M ARCH, MA, MFA, MRes or MSc degree.
These courses are considered ineligible: Postgraduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, Postgraduate Diploma, Integrated Masters (or any related discipline that qualifies for undergraduate support from UK student finance agencies), EMBA, MBA, distance learning, blended learning, and online courses.
- If you already possess a UK postgraduate taught qualification (or an equivalent degree level) from studies pursued in the UK or overseas, you are not qualified.
- You should be originally residing in one of the low-income economy countries listed above under eligible countries (see above). G20 member countries have been considered as ineligible.
- You should be able to prove with documents that you are ordinarily inhabitant in a qualifying country, e.g., providing a copy of your immigration documents, ID card, or formal evidence of your address.
- You are an asylum seeker in the UK at the time of your UAL International Postgraduate Scholarship application.
- Finally, your annual household income must be £50,000 or lesser (or the corresponding exchange rate in a qualifying countries currency) at the time of scholarship application. Visit here for the latest currency conversion rate.
In addition, you need to provide a personal statement responding to the following questions as part of your UAL application (maximum 350 words/question):
In the statement you should:
- Illustrate how receiving a Postgraduate Scholarship would make a worthwhile contribution to you.
- Tell UAL how you intend to apply the qualification you will be earning to support your future plans.
- Set out how you would tackle challenges in your home country
- Tell UAL how you would support the values of social justice and environmental conservation.
Selection criteria
Initially, a UAL selection panel will judge the application and award scholarships accordingly. Afterward, the panel will decide according to the validation of documents submitted to prove eligibility and an evaluation of the statements provided as a part of the UAL International Postgraduate Scholarship application process.
Further conditions for UAL Postgraduate Scholarship
You may apply for any UAL award or scholarship where you meet the eligibility terms. Therefore, if you receive more than one UAL award or scholarship, it will ask you to select which of them you will get, as you are only allowed to have more than one at a time.
How to apply?
To apply for the UAL scholarship, you should consider the following steps:
- Firstly, after you have received an offer on an eligible course, the (my funding) page on your UAL Applicant portal will be updated to show application forms for scholarships you might be eligible for
- Secondly, since you will need to be holding an offer on a qualifying course so as to apply for the scholarship, it is advisable that you make a course application at your earliest convenience in order to receive an offer with sufficient time to apply for the scholarship.
- Thirdly, in case you decide to complete a scholarship application form, UAL will contact you by email after the closure of this scholarship deadline to let you know whether your application has been accepted.
- Fourthly, your full UAL Scholarship application form and supplementary evidence must be submitted by the deadline.
