Opportunity Description

The University of Zurich, in cooperation with Oeuvre St.- Justin Fribourg and the Solidarity Fund for Foreign Students, is offering grants to students who are enrolled in their master’s or Ph.D. degree in one of the global south universities. This grant is offered for students to study one or two-semester during the academic years of 2020 to 2021 at the University of Zurich in Switzerland. Interested applicants who meet the requirements below, must find a supervisor at UZH then apply for the grant.

Benefits of the program:

The following grant is offered monthly to cover the living expenses, study fees, administrative fees and visa fees:

  • 1400 CHF for Master applicants.
  • 1700 CHF for Ph.D. applicants.

Note: travel expenses will not cover by Grant. Furthermore, expected from the host institute to pay the traveling expenses.

 

Eligibilities:

  • A professor of UZH must be the applicant’s supervisor during the grant period.
  • Applicants must have enrolled for a master or Ph.D. degree in one of the eligible countries.
  • Applicant’s age must not be more than 40 years.
  • Cooperation among the UZH professor and applicant’s home institution must already be launched.
  • The research cooperation must meet the transboundary research partnership requirements, which created by the Swiss Commission for Research with Developing countries (KFPE).

Required documents:

  • Online application form.
  • Supervising professor invitation letter including a guarantee statement of supervising, collaborating with home institution of applicants, a work-space of the applicants and coverage of travel expenses, full name of the applicants, duration of staying at UZH.
  • Color photo in ratio of 3:4, size of 400×500 pixel, good contrast, should take up about 80% of the photo, natural background.
  • Update CV.
  • Recent academic transcript and diploma (bachelor or master).
  • Enrollment confirmation and recognition of home institution application form. (fill and sign).
  • Motivation letter with a short description of studies and explain why you chose the UZH.
  • Research or project plan about 2-3 pages.
  • Recommendation letter from the home institute professor.
