China’s Government offers Scholarships through the Chinese Government Scholarship – University program for International students to study at different universities in China, including Fudan University and 280 other universities.  These Scholarships are offered for master’s and PhD studies and cover full expenses during the study in China.

The CSC Scholarship- University programs cover the following expenses:

• Full tuition fee exemption
• Comprehensive medical insurance
• Free On Campus Accommodation
• Free On-campus accommodation/ accommodation subsidy
• A monthly living stipend of 3000 RMB for master students and 3500 for doctoral students

Who can apply?

International students/applicants who meet the following requirements are eligible to apply for the Chinese Government Scholarship – University program:

• Hold a nationality of a country other than China
• Be in a good health situation
• Be under 35 years of age for master’s programs and under 40 for PhD programs.
• hold a Bachelor’s degree or above for master’s and master’s degree or above for doctoral studies
• Be Proficient in the English language: TOEFL (IBT) ≥ 90 │ IELTS (Academic) ≥ 6.5 │ Duolingo English Test ≥ 110 │ PTE Academic ≥ 61. There is no need to provide an English certificate if English is your first language or you have studied a degree program in English.
• Not obtained any other scholarships offered by the Chinese government.

How to apply?

Applicants should follow the steps below in order to apply to this scholarship program fully:

• Apply to a study program at Fudan University. Here you need to select “self-support” as the fund source and choose “Chinese Government Scholarship” in the scholarship application form, and upload it on the website.
• Apply to CSC Scholarship online using the link provided below. When applying to CSC, you must have the university agency number (10246 for Fudan University) and select the program category as Type B.
• Pay the application fee of 800 RMB

Required documents: 

1. 1. Valid Ordinary Passport – Photocopy of the identification page. Passport must be valid beyond September 30, 2025. Applicants in China must also provide a valid visa or residence permit.
   2. Diploma or Proof of Graduation – Original or notarized copy of the highest degree conferred (or proof of impending graduation). If not in Chinese or English, attach a notarized translation.
   3. Transcripts – Original or notarized copy of academic transcripts. If not in Chinese or English, attach a notarized translation.
   4. Two Recommendation Letters – From a professor or associate professor, written in Chinese or English, and signed by hand.
   5. Personal Statement – In Chinese or English, including study/work experience, academic achievements, research proposal, and career plans. No word limit.
   6. Language Certificate & Score Report – TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo, PTE, etc.
   7. Proof of No Criminal Record – In Chinese or English.
   8. Proof of Financial Capacity – Complete the Statement of Financial Support for International Students from https://iso.fudan.edu.cn/isoenglish/wnlinewwpplication/list.htm.
   9. Foreigner Physical Examination Form – Required for scholarship applicants. The form can be downloaded from https://iso.fudan.edu.cn/isoenglish/16202/list.htm.
      • Must be in Chinese or English and valid for six months.
      • Applicants in China can submit a Residence Permit or Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card instead.
   10. Academic & Personal Achievements (Optional) – Catalog and abstract of published papers, award certificates, or other relevant documents.
   11. Other Supplementary Documents – As required by the school or department.
