The Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) offers scholarships to students from its priority countries and other developing nations for the Diploma Course of Tourism or Hospitality Management
with the electives Entrepreneurship or Teacher Training at the Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (ITH). This course encompasses a General Module, a Professional Module (Hospitality Management or Tourism Management), and an Elective (Entrepreneurship or Teacher Training).

Benefits and Financial Aids

The scholarship details are as follows:

Covered by the scholarship (Sept 2026 – May 2027):

  • Full tuition fees
  • Accommodation in shared student housing in Salzburg
  • Emergency health insurance
  • Meals (Monday–Friday) at the school restaurant
  • Monthly pocket money of €250
  • Excursions, social activities, and course materials

Not covered:

  • Meals on weekends, holidays, and Friday dinners
  • Travel costs to and from Salzburg
  • Visa and residence permit fees
  • Personal and entertainment expenses

Internship period:

After completing the program, students receive a three-month work permit. They must earn an internship salary of about €1,000 per month. The scholarship does not cover living costs, and health insurance is automatically deducted from the salary.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Open to students from ADC priority countries and other developing countries.
  • Applicants must be between 20 and 35 years of age.
  • Must meet admission requirements specified by ITH and visa processes.
  • General requirements include:
    • Completion of GCE A-levels or equivalent, qualifying for university enrollment.
    • Minimum one year of practical experience in tourism (hotels, travel agencies, tourism management), or graduates of a tourism and hospitality institute.
    • All courses are conducted in English and require excellent English proficiency.
    • Applicants from non-English speaking countries must provide an internationally recognized English proficiency certificate (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge).
    • Students with insufficient English proficiency may be required to take an additional English-language course in Austria at their own expense.

    • TOEIC (min. 785 reading/writing, 160 speaking, 150 writing)
    • IELTS (min. 5.5)
    • Cambridge (min. FCE)
    • Duolingo English Test (100–125)
    • Proof of secondary or higher education completed in English
Motivation Letter (Max. 2 pages, in English)

Must explain:

  • Why did you choose the Tourism or Hospitality Management Diploma
  • Why are you applying for the scholarship
  • Your plans after graduation
  • Expected challenges after returning home and how you will address them
  • Program-specific question:
    • Entrepreneurship track: Your business idea
    • Teacher Training track: Your motivation and future use of training. Must be personal and not written using AI tools.
