Job summary

The purpose of this role is to ensure that Save the Children International (SCI) develops and maintains a good working relationship with Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA), and will enhance the gains made in SCI’s collaboration with ANDMA. Furthermore, the role will ensure that the Community Emergency Response Teams (CERTs) strategy is enhanced and plays a vital role in the effective management of disasters across the province.

Also, in case of a major humanitarian emergency, the incumbent will be expected to work outside the normal role boundary and be able to adjust working hours accordingly.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Regularly coordinate with the NDMIS’s responsible staff to update the database for keeping information on disaster-affected households (Natural and man-made) and response activities, keep separate records especially on OFDRR impacted families and response activities with the support of SCI Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) unit.
  • Coordinate the HVCA process and CBDP plan development at the community level, in close coordination with provincial ANDMA, SCI, and CERTs, for sound registration of all CERTs, and ensure compliance with the same ANDMA and other government departments.
  • Support SCI in delivering training to Provincial and District Disaster Management Committees (PDDMCS).
  • Prepare and submit timely and quality reports to ANDMA, SCI DRR Coordinator, and other relevant stakeholders/offices on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Assist the DRR coordinator in managing the meetings with ANDMA, DoRR, and other relevant offices
  • Support the SCI OFDA-funded project staff in evaluation and response activities.
  • Help the Provincial ANDMA in the coordination of assessments, responses and data dissemination.
  • Participate in PDMC and screening committee meetings for assessment of Internally Displaced People (IDPs).
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with ANDMA and SCI, and effectively communicate with relevant governmental departments on behalf of SCI.
  • Coordinate and track the related tasks assigned by the national ANDMA and provide the progress report on time.

Job requirements:

1. Qualifications:

  • Have graduated from a recognized University.
  • Familiar with Afghanistan’s governance system or working experience with government organizations.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential:

  • Sound spoke and written Dari and Pashto.
  • Understanding of English language is necessary.
  • Good work-level skills in computer (Microsoft office)
  • Sound report writing skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable:

  • Ability to work independently on site.
  • Be able to work under pressure.
  • Be a good team player and problem solver.
  • Ability to travel inside the province.
