Organization Description

Women Leaders of Tomorrow is dedicated to empowering women and girls through education and sports, firmly believing that education is the most crucial catalyst for enhancing women’s lives in Afghanistan. They are a passionate group of advocates committed to advancing the cause of education and empowerment for Afghan women and girls.

The organization is led by Friba Rezayee, the founder and Executive Director of Women Leaders of Tomorrow, overseeing its leadership in the GOAL sports project (Girls of Afghanistan Lead). Friba, a native of Kabul, Afghanistan, is significant in history. At the age of 18, she achieved a groundbreaking milestone by participating in Judo at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, becoming Afghanistan’s first-ever female Olympic athlete.

Friba’s remarkable journey in the Olympics was pivotal in bringing Afghanistan back onto the global sports stage following the era of the Taliban. Her courageous feat served as an inspiration, sparking a sports revolution among hundreds of Afghan girls who subsequently ventured into various sports disciplines.
