About the competition 

How can we help the world with our professional works to make an impact on climate change/emergency?

Role models, innovators, designers who are making an impact via their innovative and healthy design decision that are far-reaching, inescapable, and indisputable are invited to share their innovative approaches to healthier design. Share which materials you use, for whom you design, how are your designs inclusive, how your chosen materials can be used in new, healthier, and innovative ways. Submit your work and win 1000 dollars as a cash prize.

Eligibilities:

  • International students who are enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree-seeking design program currently can apply for this competition.
  • The competition is open to candidates in all disciplines and in all continents in the world.
  • Group submissions are also acceptable.

How will the applicants be chosen?

  • Applicants whose work indicates healthy materials innovation and advocacy in design will be chosen.
  • The submission can include models, prototypes, artwork or visual media, pictures, drawings, or short videos, etc.
  • An important summary of the life-cycle diagram in how carbon affects your design and how your work can help the current global climate emergency.

  • Personal information
  • Online application form
  • Your institution you enrolled in details
  • Title of project
  • Motivation letter about 100 words
  • The short explanation of your process no longer than 100 words
  • Market viability explanation, if your project does not become viable in the marketplace, describe why it is still important, not more than 100 words.
  • Explain in 500 words the material you used, such as coatings or adhesives, proof to support the healthier work.
  • Diagram annotation to cover the lifecycle of your design.
  • At least three final project images , less than 1MB size with high resolution.
  • At least seven images as supporting images, videos, drawings and/or other means of showing your process. All images must be high resolution.

Selection criteria:

The selection criteria will be based on the following elements:

  • Argument clearance for positive health impact and environmental benefits
  • Specific reasons/motivation for material choices
  • Innovation demonstration and future thinking
  • Carbon impact demonstration
  • Compelling aesthetics
