Fellowship overview
The Neuroscience Institute (NI) of Carnegie Mellon University offers a postdoctoral fellowship program and seeks diverse, innovative, and collaborative early-career applicants for its Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowship Program. Up to two fellowships (extendable annually, typically for two years) will be awarded per year.

Fellowship benefits
It provides:
- An annual stipend of $55,000.
- Full benefits, and a professional development fund of up to $5000 per annum.
Eligibility criteria
The institute is looking for fellows who demonstrate:
- A commitment to promoting diverse ideas, views, and voices in its research community,
- An innovative, interdisciplinary approach to solving contemporary problems in neuroscience,
- The skills to create new methods to study brain, behavior, and their relationship,
- The promise of promoting sustainable, cooperative relations between NI faculty research programs, and
- The strength of the proposed research to lead to competitive external funding.
Selection process
A selection panel consisting of three current NI faculty and the NI Director will review applications.
Notification of result: no later than April 30, 2021.

To apply, submit a single PDF file comprising of the followings (in order):
- A cover letter indicating your career goals, how the proposed work would prepare you for this journey, and how past experiences make you eligible for the project (1 page)
- Your proposed research plan(2 pages)
- A diversity, impartiality, and inclusion statement describing your commitment to and potential to contribute to a friendly and open research community (1 page)
- A current Curriculum Vitae (2 pages)
- Letters of support from two current NI faculty who will co-mentor your planned research, describing how your background qualifies you for the proposed work, the co-sponsors’ role on the project, and how the proposed work relates to, enables, and hopefully develops the co-sponsors’ research program (1 page, each)
