Introduction to award
Nominations for The International Water Association (IWA) Women in Water Award are now open. The IWA Women in Water award honors and celebrates female leadership in the field of water and recognizes those women working in the field of water who, through their strong leadership, have had a substantial positive impact on the development of the industry.
In addition, the award showcases an individual’s excellence in leadership as evidenced by remarkable initiatives, impact of work and inspiration to others recognizing the role women play in the sector, and also seeking to encourage the greater participation of women in the water sector.

Eligibility Criteria
Women leaders meeting the following criteria can apply and win the award:
- Demonstrated leadership within the sector which has had a positive impact on the development of water management
- Evident and firm contributions towards the development of future leaders
- Established contributions towards IWA and/or other water-related groups, Associations or organizations
- Open to all women working in the water industry
How to nominate?
In order to apply for the award, you should nominate a peer or be nominated by someone to win the IWA Women in Water Award 2020. Nominations are submitted online indicating the reasons why the individual will qualify.
Your nomination should include:
Name, Affiliation, Country, Email address, Phone number
- Write an executive summary describing the main reason for the nomination (maximum 150 words).
- How has your/your nominee’s leadership within the sector led to a positive impact on the advancement of water management? (100 words)
- How have you/your nominee contributed towards the generation of future leaders in the water filed? (100 words)
What contributions have you/your nominee made towards IWA and/or other water-related groups, associations or institutions? (100 words)
