Opportunity Description
Application for bp Company Net Zero Scholarship is now open. This is organized in cooperation with One Young World (OYW). And, the company aspires to turn into a net-zero company by 2050 or sooner, and also to help the world achieve this objective. Similarly, the company’s ambition is to drastically reduce carbon in its operations and production while developing new low-carbon businesses, products, and services.
Therefore, as bp heads towards net-zero, it is happy to support the Net Zero Scholarship which intends to identify and engage with young innovators who are reimagining energy for the planet and people today.
Details of Net Zero Scholarship for Young Innovators

Scholarship benefits
The recipients will receive:
- Access to the One Young World Summit 2022 in Tokyo
- Hotel lodging between May 15-19, 2022
- Travel expense to and from Tokyo
- Full food costs coverage
- Ground transportation for the summit
- Access to special bp programming which includes pre-Summit briefing, a bp friendly gathering from the company’s internal delegation, and a post-Summit feedback session.
Net Zero Scholarship outline
Scholarship awardees will join bp’s delegation to the 2022 OYW summit in Tokyo. At the summit, they will meet and exchange ideas with colleagues involved in the business. So, the scholarship looks for candidates having impactful ideas in one of the following areas:
- Advocating for forward-looking climate policies
- Boosting current decarbonized energy technologies like solar and wind
- Increasing access to energy
- Creating innovations for the reduction of emissions in households, cities, and industries
Eligibility criteria
Applicants of Net Zero Scholarship must be:
- Between 18 – 30* years old
- Citizens of all countries are eligible to apply for this scholarship
- Demonstrated impact in one of the following areas:
- Enhancing current decarbonized energy technologies such as solar and wind.
- Improving access to decarbonized energy.
- Innovating to reduce emissions in households, cities, and industries.
- Advocating for progressive climate policies.
* Most delegates are between 18-30 years of age. the OYW team will consider applications of those who are over 30 years of age, pending demonstration of appropriate personal impact, initiative, and willingness to engage.
Evaluation criteria
One Young World will evaluate the candidates according to their:
- Demonstrated commitment to delivering positive change
- Proven leadership capacity
- Perception of key local and/ or global issues
- Background of creating fruitful and innovative ideas
OYW actively seeks and prioritizes candidates who make a great impact in the above-mentioned areas of intervention.
