Job Summary

AIHRC is hiring 102 Enumerators for a short-term survey project in the framework of its new “Call for Justice Project”. The surveyors will work at AIHRC’s Headquarters in the provinces. If you meet the conditions set out below and are interested in this opportunity, you can apply.

Objective of the survey

The survey is intended to collect perceptions on relevant victim-centered justice-related issues i.e., harms inflicted by conflict, reparations, compensation, etc. The survey may contain, but is not limited to, the following concerns:

• Respondents’ needs (current and post-conflict) – livelihoods, accommodation, other financial necessities, education, health, etc;
• Respondents’ experiences as victims, witnesses or perpetrators of violence, injustice, indignity, human rights violations, mental health/community support;
• Respondents’ experience in accessing compensation (victims compensation); their perception of what compensation they deserve;
• Respondents’ grasp of their rights, their access, and enjoyment of rights; their understanding and previous experience of justice; including accountability, truth-finding, reconciliation, reparations;
• Respondents’ demand/need for accountability via judicial and non-judicial processes and mechanisms;
• Respondents’ perception of government and other institutions, including AIHRC.

Please remember this is not an inclusive list; the Lead Researcher will develop the core research questions.

Job Description:

Role & Responsibilities

The enumerator will:

• Visit local residents and communicate effectively with people from various backgrounds (specifically war victims) so that they can easily answer the questionnaire.
• Organize survey forms, collect necessary information, and explain interview questions and survey forms to the general public.
• Ensure all quality control and data protection measures are followed.
• A number of enumerators will be chosen to lead Focus Group Discussions – these enumerators will have special experience in qualitative research and/or journalism. (in case you have specific experience as a journalist or researcher, please indicate this in your application form).

Deliverables and Duties

• Take part in trainings on the research study;
• Carry out a specific number of surveys each day;
• Attend a daily feedback session;
• Carry out Focus Group Discussions (only for some enumerators).

Equipment

• All candidates must have a working smartphone. This will be used for performing the survey as a tool.

Job requirements:

• Applicants must be at least high school graduates. Preference is given to applicants who hold a BA degree;
• Experience in conducting surveys with recognized organizations;
• Work experience in journalism as a reporter (print or broadcast) would be advantageous;
• Experience as a qualitative researcher;
• Strong ability to use computer programs and technology;
• Applicants must be well familiar with the geographical and cultural context of the province where the survey is undertaken;
• Applicants must demonstrate valid references.
