    • Detroit Mercy scholarship is based on high school GPA.
    • Up to $10,000 per academic year, paid evenly over fall and winter terms. Scholarships are renewable.
    • Students from a U.S. high school affiliation or a foreign high school can apply.
    • English Proficiency is required for students from foreign high schools.
    • ALCP classes do not contribute to full-time enrollment status or eligibility for discounts.
  • Transfer Students:
    • Detroit Mercy grant is based on college GPA.
    • The value of the grants varies based on GPA and enrollment status.
    • The grants are renewable.
    • Transfer students from accredited U.S. colleges/universities or foreign high schools are eligible to apply.
    • English Proficiency is required for students from foreign colleges.
    • ALCP classes do not contribute to full-time enrollment status or eligibility for discounts.

International Graduate Students:

  • Upon review by the Academic Department or College, graduate students may qualify for teaching or research assistantships.
  • Assistantships are typically awarded to newly admitted, first-term, international graduate students.
  • The American Language and Culture Program (ALCP) classes are not eligible for scholarships or discounts and do not count toward full-time enrollment status.
  • Students in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program scoring 600 or better on the GMAT qualify for a half-tuition scholarship.
  • Applicants must submit qualifying GMAT scores to the Admissions Office to qualify.
  • The scholarship only applies to MBA programs and cannot be combined with other grants, scholarships, or tuition discounts.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirnemnts:

Undergraduate (Freshman)

  • Open to international students who have completed high school or have no previous college coursework.
  • Applicants must meet English proficiency requirements: TOEFL iBT: 81 | IELTS: 6.5 | Duolingo: 105
  • SAT/ACT scores are optional.
  • Nursing applicants whose first language is not English must score at least TOEFL iBT 83.

Undergraduate (Transfer)

  • Open to students who have completed college-level coursework at another institution.
  • Foreign transcripts must be evaluated by a recognized credential evaluation agency (e.g., Scholaro, SpanTran, ECE, WES).
  • Coursework completed in English-speaking countries (U.S., U.K., Australia, New Zealand, or Ontario, Canada) does not require evaluation.

Graduate

  • Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Must meet English proficiency requirements: TOEFL iBT 81 | IELTS 6.5 | Duolingo 105.
  • GRE required only for MBA applicants.
  • Some programs may have earlier deadlines; applicants should check department webpages.

Immigration Eligibility

  • Must be eligible for an F-1 student visa.
  • Must provide proof of financial capability to cover first-year tuition and living expenses.
  • Must hold a valid passport (at least one year beyond intended stay).
