Organization Description

The Asian American Journalists Association-AAJA is a non-profit, membership professional, and educational organization with over 1,500 members around the United States and Asia. The Association is dedicated to improving newsroom diversity and ensuring accurate and fair coverage of communities of color. AAJA’s main strategic goals are as follows:

  • To provide support and a means of Association among Asian American and Pacific Islander journalists and advancing their careers within the U.S. Media.
  • To provide information, encouragement, advice, and scholarship to AAPI students aiming for professional journalism careers.
  • To provide news media awareness and understanding of how to gain fair access to the AAPI community.
  • To research and identify when news media organizations stray from fairness and accuracy in covering Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders and AAPI issues.
