Introduction

Young people all across the world are invited to apply for a fully-funded trip to attend the Youth4Climate: Driving Ambition event in Milan, Italy. Organized by the Government of Italy and building upon the success of the 2019 UN Youth Climate Summit, the event will be held from 28 to 30 September 2021 and provide young delegates an unparalleled opportunity to propose ideas and concrete proposals on some of the most urgent issues on the climate agenda. The first two days will be focused on working groups, while the last day will feature a discussion between young leaders and the Ministers attending pre-COP 26.

Benefits

The initiative provides young people two opportunities to be part of this historic event: attending the event for their pioneering work and participating in the #SumItUp Competition.

Participants will have the opportunity to engage in and interact with groups of young comate change agents as well as established climate leaders and other participants.

Who can participate?

  • Whether experienced climate activists or just beginning their climate advocacy journey, all youth are eligible to apply.
  • Applicants must be between the ages of 15 and 29 on 28 September 2021.
  • If selected, all applicants below the age of 18 must be accompanied to the event by a guardian.

Evaluation

Applications will be assessed according to their ability to think critically about climate change and sustainable development as well as their ability to inspire others to work with them to address the climate crisis.

How to apply?

Interested youths can either:

Submit an application by 28 February, explaining the ways they are working with and leading other young people to promote climate action. For this category, experienced young climate leaders are encouraged to submit their applications to get the chance to be one of two young people representing their country in Milan.

Enter the #SumItUp Competition, by submitting an innovative sum-up of their favorite #Youth4ClimateLive episode before the 31 March deadline. For this category, Youth with creative communication skills and digital storytelling experience are welcome to enter the #SumItUp Competition. Here, one winner will be selected to attend the Youth4Climate event.
