An international opportunity to advance cancer research is provided by YY grants in Japan to the  applicants from developing countries to carry out cancer research project abroad and receive further training in research methods or techniques. Who can apply:

Eligibility:

  • Applicants must have done their PhD degree or equivalent degree two years before the application time
  • Applicants with different knowledge background can apply
  • Applicants must have track record in cancer research
  • Applicants and host supervisors must have adequate fluency in a common language.
  • Applicants can apply only for one program
  • If applicants already participated in the program, they must have the membership of the association if UICC fellows and one year has passed since their previous fellowship, to be eligible to take part of this program.
  • Applicants must be engaged in an area of cancer research listed below:
  • Biology, Etiology, prevention, Early Detection, Diagnosis and prognosis, cancer control, Survivorship and outcome Research.

Research plan:

  • Your research plan must be Basic, Translational, implementation, clinical or applied cancer

Condition of the fellowship:

  • Applicants must return to their home country after finishing the program
  • Training, courses, lectures, meetings, conferences, congresses or etc will not be covered.
  • The original fellowships cannot be prolonged or run concurrently with other awards.
  • At the end of the project applicants need to write their reports in English, including work undertaken and its results, share several high resolution photos of yourself with your supervisor.
  • Your reports must be evaluated by applicant’s supervisor.
  • Use the report template which will be given you at the end of program.
  • Applicants will receive the online evaluation survey after one year.

  • At first applicants must find a supervisor, contact him/her to obtain his/her agreement to host them for 3 months. The applicants must receive an acceptance letter form their supervisors and attach that as part of their applicants. You can find more details about the YY Study Grants here
