If you are a journalist and interested in a fully-funded 9-month program to learn the role of US Founding principles of free press and journalistic practices in fostering transparency and accountability of government institutions, businesses, and organizations. This is a World Press Institute fellowship that provides opportunities to the fellows to learn about US history and current affairs, as well as challenges the U.S. media faces when you are experiencing and reporting social and economic and political issues.
The main purpose of this program is to gain access to, engage in and observe the role, responsibility and impact of a free press firsthand in one of the largest democracies in the world.
You should be able to adhere to fellowship terms and do not violate them.
Fellowship terms:
- The applicants should prepare for and participate in all briefing and WPI scheduled events.
- Stay to complete the program and return to their home country following the program completion
Accept other terms of the program such as writing for the WPI website, participation in periodic reviews and evaluation, cross-cultural adoption, willingness to travel.

Are you eligible to apply?
You are eligible if you meet the following requirements:
- Have a minimum five years of experience in print, broadcast or online journalism
- Be currently employed as a non-US journalist working outside of the United States.
- Be fluent in written and spoken English
- Have leadership potential
What is required?
- Contact details of three professional references are required. References should be able to write comment in English and be familiar with applicants’ work. One of the references should be the director of the supervisor of the applicant.
- 3 Work samples that are online and publicly accessible.
- Colored Photograph (minimum 200 dip, 2.5-inch height, JPG/JPEG or Gif )
