Introduction
The United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute and the University of Peace (UPEACE) have jointly organized this LL.M., and the application for this program is now open.
The Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Transnational Crime and Justice is intended for young professionals and university graduates aspiring to specialize in the fields of international law areas of peace and conflicts, transnational crimes and transitional justice, humanitarian law, international criminal law and procedure, and international human rights law.
Dependent on each student’s background and preferences, the program applies to careers in the legal and political areas both at a national and international front as well as in further academic studies.

Eligibility
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Hold at least a 3-year university degree from an internationally renowned university in Law, Political Science, Criminology, Social Sciences, International Relations, or equivalent academic subjects.
- Complete proficiency in written and spoken English. Please remember that a good knowledge of English is necessary.
Even though a certificate of English knowledge is not required, proficiency score ranging from the below internationally accepted certificates are suggested to be equal to or above the following:

Schedule of the program
The academic curriculum of the Master program unfolds in three phases:
- Distance-learning Phase: 23th November 2020 – 15th January, 2021:
During this phase, students will enjoy access to the online platform of the LL.M. Programme, on which besides self-study, they will have to do readings, the group works, and other communicative activities with the help of a tutor. At the end of this phase, an test is given.
- Residential Phase: 27th January – 25th June, 2021:
The Residential Phase consists of theoretical lectures, seminars, and practical exercises, including workshops, simulations, study tours, moot courts, and other activities organized in collaboration with international organizations, NGOs, research organizations, and bodies relating to the UN system. The residential phase of the program is held in the excellent setting of the United Nations Campus in Turin, Italy.
- The Graduation Project, at the conclusion of the residential phase, will include a Moot Court simulation that will further help students to build skills in written and oral courtroom advocacy on designated matters of fundamental international criminal law.
Upon successful completion of the course, scholars shall be awarded an LL.M degree.
The selected students, in order to receive the final Master of Laws Degree worth 40 UPEACE credits need to:
- get passing marks in all the assessments and foreseen exams;
- complete the minimum average of attendance by attending at least 2/3 of each weekly schedule and a minimum of 75% of the total residential schedule over a two-month period.

Required documents
- Motivation letter, a personal statement illustrating why you are interested in this particular program and indicating any relevant experience you have. So, the statement should be written in English in no more than one page.

- Scanned copy of passport showing only the personal information and photo page(s).
- Official English certificate if available
- A certified copy of the Bachelor’s(or higher) diploma(s) in its original language issued by the relevant University is necessary.
- An official attested translation of the above diploma(s)and transcript (s) into English if the original document(s) is not in English language.
- An attested copy of the university transcript(s) of records of all the university studies completed or underway in the original language issued by the competent University (ies).
- Any other document that Italian Embassies may ask so as to issue a study visa.
