About the prize

Nominations are now open for the 4th edition of UNESCO/Juan Bosch Prize 2021 for the Advancement of Social Science Research in Latin America and the Caribbean. The prize recognizes the young social science researchers who are doing research work on social development policies in relation to the two above areas. So, if you are a social science researcher, this is for you to try.

Prize value

UNESCO will award 12000 USD to the winner(s) of the 2021 prize.

Eligibilities

  • The prize is open to all UNESCO member countries.
  • Governments of member countries, in consultation with UNESCO’s national commissions, as well as NGOs in official relationship with the institution can nominate an eligible candidate.
  • To be eligible, the nominee must be under 40 years old and h/her research work must relate to the themes laid out above.

How can a candidate be nominated?

  • Eligible nominees must be nominated by the government of member states, non-governmental organizations that maintain official relationships with UNESCO and active if filed under the umbrella of the prize.
  • Self-nominations are not accepted.
  • Nominations can be submitted in English or French.

Nomination package

The nomination shall include a recommendation letter written in English or French that comprises:

  • Details of the candidate’s background and accomplishments;
  • An outline of the work or the results of the work, publications, and other supportive documents of underlying importance submitted for consideration;
  • A statement detailing the candidate’s contribution to the Prize’s objectives.
  • Besides, the nomination form should be filled out and attached to the email.
